New Delhi. In view of the increasing cases of cyber and phishing attacks nowadays, Google is now introducing 2-Step Authentication by default to promote the security and privacy of users. To protect the security and privacy of your social media data from phishing attacks, use 2 Step Authentication. If users configure their accounts correctly, then Google will be able to automatically enroll those users for this feature. Google gave this information through a blog post on Thursday. Google announced in its blog post that now users will have to follow 2 steps to sign-in to their Google accounts.

2 step authentication required

Mark Risher, Google’s Director of Product Management, said, “Starting today we will ask users who have already enrolled for it. In this process, whenever you sign in to your Google Account, This will be confirmed via the Google prompt on your phone if you are logging into your account”.

He further added that “Soon we will enroll other users for this feature if users have configured their accounts properly (you can checkup your account’s configuration with Google Security). Using mobile to login will provide a safe and secure way to the users”

Designed Smart Lock App

On World Password Day, Google wants more users to sign up for the 2-step verification process, in which even if someone has your username and password, they cannot access your account without your device. Google further wrote in the blog post that it has developed a security key for the Android platform and the Smart Lock app for iOS, so that users can keep their smartphone as an option for authentication. Google is now preparing to shut down the password technology login system, as many times users keep the same password for all their accounts, which puts their online presence and the privacy of their private data at risk.
