Once he started business with only 70 thousand rupees, today he has made 300 crore rupees from this. The name is Jatin Ahuja and he is the founder of Big Boy Toys (BBT, BBT).
Even when the sales of new vehicles, especially cars, had come down to almost zero during the lockdown in April 2020, 12 luxury cars worth about Rs 13 crore were sold. BBT showrooms are located in Gurugram as well as in Mumbai and Hyderabad. In a detailed interview given to Your Story, Jatin has narrated his journey. At the age of 23, Jatin started BBT in the year 2009. Its aim was to make luxury cars accessible to as many people as possible and to reach all sections. So second hand cars are converted into luxury cars at a lower cost.
The idea of making cars a luxury came in the 6th itself.
Jatin says that Jatin’s passion for cars was not a sudden thought, but remained close to his life for years and years. This is the reason that in the sixth grade, the idea of this business came in Jatin’s mind and at the age of 17, he started trying to establish it as a business venture. Born in the house of a chartered accountant father, Jatin Ahuja studied mechanical engineering and did his MBA from Delhi University. He put his skills to good use in refurbishing the car and also started working on his business model seriously. Big Boy Toys was started by Jatin with Fiat Palio with a loan of Rs 70,000 from his father and opened a small studio in Delhi in the year 2009. Now a team of about 150 people are engaged with their lives, where pre-owned luxury cars are easily available at a one stop destination.
The first deal was done with the Mercedes car that was damaged in the Mumbai floods
In his first deal in the year 2005, he sold a Mercedes that was damaged in the Mumbai floods for 25 lakhs. After this, Jatin paid attention to the new mobile number along with the car and in 2006, in view of the demand for fancy mobile numbers, he bought 1200 sim cards of 99999 series, which did a business of 24 lakhs and in 2007 his earning figure was 2 crore has been reached. Jatin entered the pre-owned luxury car business at a time when premium car dealers were hesitant to enter the Indian market, but Jatin was so confident in himself that he channeled his years-long passion into the business. Changed.
Cars have reached 6000 people
After 2009, Jatin did not look back and since then has now taken his cars to more than 6,000 people in different cities of India. A BBT car goes through a 151-point check list before it is put up for sale, says Jatin. The company claims that it is the largest dealer of pre-owned cars in India and BBT has also been recognized by CMO Asia, Singapore as Asia’s most promising car dealer. Along with BMW in BBT, there is also a huge demand for cars like Lamborghini Gallardo, Aventador, Bentley GT / GTC, Range Rovers. Along with these cars, the company also sells pre-owned cars from other luxury brands such as Rolls Royce, Maserati, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Lamborghini and Bentley.
