Indian Railways has suffered a lot due to the lockdown caused by Corona virus. During the Corona crisis, the Railways had closed the entry of people living on the platform without a ticket. The earnings of Indian Railways from platform tickets have been severely affected in the financial year 2020-21. The revenue from platform tickets declined by about 94% as compared to the previous year.

Chandra Shekhar Gaur of Madhya Pradesh had filed an RTI related to this in the Railways. In response, the Railways said that till February 2020-21, it had earned Rs 10 crore from platform ticket sales.
