Digital company Jio has announced the launch of ‘Call of Duty’ Mobile Access e-Sports Challenge, an online shooting game on the JioGames eSports platform, in partnership with mobile chip maker Qualcomm. . The Call of Duty game is published by US-based Activision Publishing and is a rival to PUBG. PUBG is banned in India. Jio and Qualcomm CDMA Technologies Asia Pacific Ptey (QCTAP) have opened registration for the first e-contest of ‘Call of Duty’ in India with a reward of Rs 25 lakh.
According to a joint statement, the ‘Call of Duty Mobile Access eSports Challenge’ will be open to both Jio and non-Jio users. Rajan Vagadia, President, Qualcomm India said that mobile gaming is one of the fastest growing sectors in India. About 90 percent of gamers in India are using their mobile as their primary device for gaming.
Vagadia said, “We wanted to collaborate with a brand like Jio, which understands the opportunity deeply and whose belief matches ours”.
